Nike Air Max 90 ‘Fire Hydrant’

Here we get a look at a new pair of Air Max 90s. Dubbed, Fire Hydrants due to the red fire hydrant on the shoe’s tongue, it features a white/silver/black/patent blue colourway.

The good people at Tripwire magazine have put together a great little typography. This is stuff everyone should look at on occasion, even if it doesn’t one-up the epic ‘quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog’ typo.

Skin & Bones – Tattoos in the Life of the American Sailor

A new exhibit recently opened at Philadelphia’s Independence Seaport Museum:
“Skin & Bones traces the origins, functions, and significance of tattoos in American sailors’ lives from the late 18th century onward and how merchant and naval seamen have kept this tradition unbroken and alive. It also connects current trends with historic tradition to enlighten tattooed and un-tattooed visitors alike about this often still misunderstood art form.”
Although by no means were sailors the first to tattoo themselves; they are, however, regarded as pioneers in tattoo culture, and in large part it is they who helped make it part of America’s cultural fiber.
The exhibit runs until January 3rd, 2010.

XLarge x Casio G-Shock DW-5600

Part of XLarge’s Summer collection is a collaboration with Casio. The two brands worked on the popular G-Shock DW-5600 model decorating it with XLarge’s logo and a diagonal striped pattern. The watch releases June 13th.

Keith Haring Skateboard for $16,000

Way back in 1987, pop artist, Keith Haring took a magic marker to a skateboard, and decorated it with his trademark characters. Last week, it sold for a cool $16,250 at Phillips de Pury. On the auction block were also works from such artists as Ed Templeton, Shepard Fairey, Kaws, Cindy Sherman etc… Haring’s skateboard ended up being the third highest selling item.
