Back in the Winter, we reported on the Obey x Stereo Skateboards collaboration, which consists of four pro-decks designed by Shepard Fairey. Although they officially released in the Spring, some shops have just started getting their shipment, including Slam City Skates. mash rating: 8/10

Love Fairey’s art work.

you mean you love the art he steals..

Relax bro. I think Jim Jarmusch put it best: Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is nonexistent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery—celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from—it’s where you take them to.”

I think you’re missing the whole point of his artwork as well the guy who wrote that article, truth. I’m not a huge Fairey fan but I grasp what he’s trying to do with his so-called “appropriation.” Or are you one of those people who don’t think its music because it uses a sample?
