The mecca of skateboarding, Venice Beach, finally has a skate park to call home. After eight months of work, and $3.5 million in concrete, the Venice Beach Skate Plaza opened on Saturday to a huge crowd of eager skaters, and onlookers alike.

More after the jump.

its about time they did something like this in venice. california has free parks on just about every corner… here in miami kids are out of luck. parks are few and far. not every 12 yr old kid can tell his mom be back later and jump on the metro rail for 30 min to hit downtown. shit like this keeps kids out of trouble and gets them off the couch.

Hopefully helpful — can’t find a Twitter or Facebook blast link on here. Like “retweet this”. Just saying because I’m trying to send it to someone. Or maybe I’m retarded and just missed it.

And feel free to delete this comment. I’m not trying to be that donkey.
