David Lynch to Film a Documetary about The Beatles’ Guru

Director extraordinaire, David Lynch has announced he is planning to film another movie; this time, however, a documentary on the legendary Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
It really doesn’t come as a surprise from the California resident – who most recently worked together with Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse (Read more about that in a previous post here.) – since he himself is an active student of the Indian guru’s teachings: Transcendental Meditation. What’s more, he even founded his own foundation, which aims “for consciousness-based education and world peace“.
The most well-known students of the guru (who passed away last year at the ripe age of 90) were the Beatles, who began visiting him regularly in the late ’60s. Since then, a whole slew of musicians and celebs have chosen to follow the Yogi’s teachings including the Rolling Stones, Jane Fonda, Stevie Wonder, Clint Eastwood and even Kurt Vonnegut. The guru travelled extensively to acquaint the world with his doctrines including stops at the BBC, at Royal Albert Hall, appearing in Time Magazine, and pretty much visiting every continent resulting in a following in the hundreds of thousands of people.
