JR in New York

JR’s been spending time in New York lately for his ongoing project, Inside Out. Along with his massive piece he did on the Bowery which you might have already seen (if not, check it out after the jump), he’s been busy getting other works up throughout the city.

Mac & Retna: Let the Arts Roam
I Am Los Angeles put together a short video with Mac and Retna giving some insight into the work, motivation and inspiration of the two LA-based artists.
“Wherever they go, they try to make something that makes sense for the neighborhood, and the community. And they always make something positive, something the artists hope people can enjoy — regardless of whether life has greeted them with great fortune. Armed with a vision and their cans of spray paint, El Mac and Retna will transform a forgotten wall into a piece of art.”
Vans Syndicate 2011 Fall ‘Zero Lo’

The approach to the design for Vans Syndicate’s Zero Lo model was to blend influences to a blur for a new, but familiar perspective on Vans, all the while maintaining a fix on skateboarding. The Zero Lo sports a vulc sole for a classic skate feel with improved cushioning; a DURACAP upper, which integrates a micro thin rubber layer into the actual material; ollie reinforcement panel; a co-molded PU3 footbed with Impactsorb. The sneaker released early this month in three tonal colourways. mash rating: 7/10
