Dalek ‘Space Monkey’ Prints

The former assistant to Takashi Murakami, Dalek has just released a new pair of Space Monkey prints. Limited to 90 each, and measuring 18″ x 24″, you can pick up the signed and numbered prints for $60 through Dalek’s online shop.

Kurt Moses ‘Un Petit Monde’

Giving a run for Slinkachu’s and Isaac Cordal’s money is photographer, Kurt Moses. One of his ongoing projects, Un Petit Monde, is a series of images of miniature figures in real world settings. The goal is simple: initiate a storyline and capture an evocative photo that allows the viewer to draw his own conclusions about the scenes he’s observing.

Nike Air Flight 89 QS ‘Black/Zen Grey-Cool Grey’

Nike brings back one of their greatest basketball shoes ever made. Designed by Tinker, the Air Flight 89 bears plenty of resemblance to the Jordan IV, including the sole and the script on the tongue. MJ even wore the Flight 89s now and again. They recently dropped as quikstrikes in what could easily pass as OGs in a black/zen grey-cool grey colourway, and have began arriving at retailers in Europe including Shelta. mash rating: 7.5/10

Alex Gross ‘Product Placement’ Exhibit

Alex Gross opened his latest exhibit at Jonathan Levine gallery over the weekend. In Product Placement, the Los Angeles-based artist expands upon themes that have appeared in his prior work. Branding, Consumption, Celebrity, Globalism, Love, and Mortality are just a few of the points being addressed in this group of 19 new oil paintings on canvas, panel and paper. Dramatic cloudscapes and erupting volcanoes coexist with pixelated faces, floating bubbles and smartphones, in a postmodern hybrid of advertising, propaganda and surrealism. The show runs until March 24th.

The City of Samba: Tilt-Shift Video of Rio Carnival
Time-lapse and tilt-shift videos are a dime a dozen these days, but it’s very rare that we come across one that so extremely well executed. The City of Samba is a tilt-shift video capturing the 2011 Carnival in Rio de Janeiro by Keith Loutit and Jarbas Agnelli that is awe-inspiring, bright, colourful, and captivating. Check it out.

Stefan Glerum is an Amsterdam-based artist whose style is like a melting pot of illustration heritage. While its subconscious familiarity has universal appeal, his work is also a study point for those with knowledge of graphic design history. His work is inspired by early 20th Century movements such as Art Deco, Bauhaus, Italian Futurism and Russian Constructivism, which he combines with popular themes, executed in a style reminiscent of the clear line.
