A recurring theme from South Carolina-based artist, Hollis Brown Thornton are paintings and drawings of outdated modern cultural artifacts ranging from family photos to pop culture imagery such as VHS tapes, cassettes, floppy disks and Atari cartridges. He illustrates the modern relevance of these ideas from the past, uniting the fleeting present to a lingering past. They are items that continue to exist, bound to us by their initial value, and now wound up in habit, nostalgia, or loyalty.

More after the jump.
