Sandwichbike: A Plywood Bicycle You Build Yourself

If IKEA had ever decided to manufacture bicycles it would without a doubt look just like a Sandwichbike (except it would probably be all white), which is a new company that rethinks the traditional bicycle. It was inspired by the concept of flat packing, home assembly and the brand’s never-ending drive to create exceptional products. Instead of a welded frame, the bike was engineered as a ‘sandwich’ of two weather coated frames of layered plywood. Bonded together by ‘smart cylinders’, the frames and components become a rock-solid piece of technology that is both durable and aesthetically unique.
You can order the bike online and have it shipped to your front door at sandwichbikes.com.

Rapha Continental: Hidden Europe – Footprints
The Rapha Continental was established in 2007 with the aim of rediscovering the lost spirit of cycling. To help realise that ambition, each year Rapha joins forces with some of the finest independent framebuilders from around the world.
The result is a growing collection of elegant custom bikes that reflect the craft and heritage of global framebuilding, bikes that are versatile enough to handle the wide range of terrain that the Continental riders encounter.
In 2013, the European framebuilders will include Amaro Bikes, Crema Cycles, Crisp Titanium, Edelbikes, Festska, St Joris Cycles, Vandeyk Contemporary Cycles, Vogel Fahrradrahmenbau and Tiziano Zullo.
The Faraday Effect
Adam Vollmer and his company, Faraday Bicycles, are leading the way with an electric bike that will get you to work with a smile on your face. In the video above, Vollmer speaks passionately about all the benefits a daily commute by bike and introduces Faraday’s flagship product, the Faraday Porteur – the bike that was dubbed “the ultimate modern utility bike” by the Oregon Manifest bicycle design competition.
I’m sold on this bike and would gladly dish out the cash if I had $3500 to spare.
Wave Rock
InfinityList teamed up with mb! by Mercedes-Benz Magazine and Australian BMX rider Danny Campbell to conquer Wave Rock, a 14 meter high and 110 meter long granite rock face shaped like an over-vert quarter pipe located in the Western Australia Outback. The rock which appears deceivingly smooth to the naked eye is wicked rough with large elevated patches of uneven surfaces. The video itself was shot over three days of blistering heat hundreds of miles from the nearest major city of Perth. Check out the video above.
Extreme Downhill in Bolivia
While I don’t particularly enjoy using the word extreme, what happened at the end of October in La Paz, Bolivia was just that. Red Bull’s Descenso del Condor event had extreme downhillers bombing down steep inclines, rugged paths and narrow stairways in a death-defying race to the bottom. Check out a video taken from downhill rider, and winner of first place, Filip Polc’s helmet cam to see just how insane it was.
