Plasticine Tatooine

Plasticine Tatooine is a new book by illustrator, Elliott Quince which shows characters from Star Wars made from plasticine. Apart from his medium of choice, what also makes Quince’s project unique is that instead of concentrating on the leading roles, he decided to shine the light on the lesser-known characters.
“What I’ve decided to do, to make this project different, is to select a bunch of the more random cast members and imagine how bitter they must have been at not making it big, how badly they were treated on set or how cruelly their lives have panned out since the movies were released.”

Karlheinz Weinberger “Rebel Youth” Book

New from Rizzoli is Rebel Youth, a book documenting the photography of Karlheinz Weinberger. The book centers on his portraits of rebel youth in 1960’s Switzerland, which have since left an indelible mark on the fashion world inspiring a whole army of designers. The book is set to release February 8th.
“These working-class teenagers created looks that fused iconic American pop culture imagery—biker jackets, denim jeans, bouffant hairdos, James Dean insouciance—with their own idiosyncratic sensibilities. From the late 1950s through the ’60s, Weinberger captured the defiant glamour of these youths with a keen eye for their provocative handmade designs. Inspired by the rebel youth’s pop playfulness and fierce individuality, a legion of contemporary fashion-industry leaders have been profoundly influenced by the photographs collected in this stunning volume.”
