mashKULTURE.net + Ludwig Design Contest Winner

The design contest we ran together with Ludwig ended at the end of September. We’d like to thank everyone who took part and sent in their designs. We received a lot of great submissions, which is why we’ve waited so long with announcing the winner. Well, Ludwig have finally made a decision, and the best design goes to Jackie Nott, who wins a $250 gift certificate to the Ludwig online shop! Congratulations Jackie!

mashKULTURE 3rd Anniversary T-Shirt

Back in May of 2006, we launched our site. In the blink of an eye, three and a half years have passed. We will be celebrating with a party at the end of the month, and to commemorate our third anniversary, we got together with Tyra Clothing to design our The Dirty Third t-shirt. For those who can’t make it to the party, we are offering pre-orders of the tee until next Thursday. The price is $20, and if you’re interested send an email to info@mashkulture.net.
We’d like to give a very big thank you to all of our readers who check out the site everyday, and we’d also like to thank our sponsors (Mishka, Mighty Healthy, Ludwig, Kidrobot, Carhartt, IM King, Gold Coin, Johnny Cupcakes, Lomography, 3sixteen, Staple, Heel Bruise) who immediately agreed to send tees, stickers, and a bunch of other goodies for us to hand out at the party. Also a big thanks to roki for designing the graphic.
After the jump, check out the tee in more detail, and the party flyer.
Etnies SLB 23 ‘Navy’

Resurrected last year, Etnies have since been putting out new colourways of one of their most sought after, and most popular skate shoes ever: Sal Barbier’s signature sneaker, the SLB. Most recently, it was given a nubuck navy upper, gum sole, and red lining and embroidered 23. Look for it at retailers including Caliroots. mash rating: 8/10

Mike Tyson’s Abandoned Mansion

Everyone knows Mike Tyson has an explosive personality. Not only has he been known to give his opponents a pummeling they’ll never forget, he also went a few rounds with his old house in Ohio. He ended up moving to Vegas and sold the house to business man/entrepeneur, Paul Monea who purchased it as an investment. He was unable to sell the house, and in the meantime got some jail time when the Feds posed as potential buyers for the house who openly stated they’d be paying with “drug money”. Paul’s selective hearing chose to disregard that bit of information, and it ended up getting himself tossed in the slammer for this faux pas. Throughout all this drama, the house is still the way Tyson left it in the late ’90s. Photographer, Danny Wills recently visited the house, and took some great pictures.
Check them out after the jump.
