Back in February we shared with you the trailer for Into the Thicket, which chronicles the journey of a trek into the forests of Vancouver Island by a group of skaters who shred a ramp constructed using the surrounding environment and few other materials. Now we get a look at the full video, a ten-minute clip that features such skaters as Chris Haslam, Todd Myers, and Mat Howell.

Nudie Jeans Recycled Denim Rug

Nudie Jeans introduces a new limited edition rug made from their old and worn out denim. The jeans were first cut down to serrated strips and sewn together and rolled up on spools. The strips were then woven together by hand on a manual shuttle loom and the weft was made from the same indigo dyed thread they use in their jeans. Made in a limited run of 120, the individually numbered rugs are now available through Nudie’s online shop for €399.

New Works from Marilyn Minter

Over the weekend, Los Angeles gallery, Regen Projects played host to an exhibition of works by Marilyn Minter. On display are five monumental paintings from New York artist along with some of her earliest black and white photographics taken in 1969 of her drug-addicted mother.
“Three years in the making, these new large-scale paintings deepen Minter’s investigation of how we communicate with the illusion of glamour via advertising in public spaces. Cracked glass, swaths of vibrant graffiti, and dripping water confront the viewer and obscure Minter’s archetypal images of stiletto heels and eyes caked with makeup. Meticulously painted in Minter’s signature style, the paintings are constructed using many translucent layers of enamel paint, creating an image that at once crystallizes and dissolves for the viewer.
The early photographic series Coral Ridge Towers depicts Minter’s mother on an ordinary weekend at home in her Florida condominium. She is pictured performing her daily rituals of beautification and torpor through the lens of addiction.”
