After three years, Ben Frost makes his return to the gallery circuit with a new exhibit at Sydney’s Boutwell Draper Gallery. Entitled Lost in the Supermarket (a reference to Clash’s song of the same name), the exhibit “remarks on the over stimulation, confusion and daily hypnosis we are trapped by, as we struggle to stand still on a buzzing psychedelic landscape of brands, identities and social demands”. The show runs from November 26th until December 19th.

No, you are not looking at a photograph. Abel Szabo is a Hungarian artist who creates the most realistic oil paintings of abandoned cities and landscapes, as well as still life. A feeling of solitude and emptiness dominate his work, but at the same time he manages to create an overwhelming sense of beauty.

Obey gives us a look at the latest print by Shepard Fairey. Based on a photo by Glen E. Friedman of the legendary Dogtown Skates founder, Jim Muir (who is Mike Muir’s older brother by the way),  the print is limited to 450, and is numbered and signed by both the Fairey and Friedman. It will release this Thursday through Obey’s online shop. A portion of the proceeds will go towards supporting Jim Muir’s medical bills.

Over the weekend, Jeremy Fish opened his latest exhibit at the Laguna Art Musuem. The San Francisco-based artist put together new works which are “largely about transformation and rebirth through struggle. Deliberately drawing from our own current economic and political events and its impact on us socially and emotionally, Fish’s characters reveal a narrative of evolution through struggle to obtain a more magnificent and resilient place. In this exhibition, Fish has created paintings surrounded by hand carved wood frames, as well as three-dimensional figures for the gallery wall installation and wooden sculptures.” The show runs until January 17th.
