Photographer/graffit artist, Ruedione spent six years from 2002 until 2008 taking photographs of fellow graffiti writers at night. His new book, Backflashes: Graffiti Tales aims at visualizing the feeling writers get when venturing out into the night to carry out their art. The book also features quotes from several other artists from around the world to show that this feeling is lived and celebrated by an international community. “So whether you’re learning the ropes, considering going pro, or just want to tap your inner DJ, this book is for you.” – is how The Scratch DJ Academy Guide describes itself, and aims to be the mini-encyclopedia of the Scratch DJ Academy founded by Jam Master Jay.

The book, however, doesn’t stop at just showing you how to handle a crossfader. It goes into detail and offers much helpful information from start to finish on mastering the art of DJ-ing. From Brooklyn to Ibiza, well-known DJs acquaint the reader how they got started, and what they went through to get where they are today. They also give helpful tips, such as what steps are involved from booking to gigs, and share their thoughts on music, scratching, mixtapes, their techniques. And if you don’t know what beat juggling is, they even go into details about that too.

To mention just a few names who contributed to the book: Grand Wizard Theodore, A-Trak, Richie Hawtin, DJ Yoda, Q-Bert, Nick Warren, Matt Black, DJ Craze.
