We’ve covered the 59-foot tall Gundam erected in Tokyo a few times already. Here we have a new video, where we can see up close the movement of the head (listen to the crowd awe in wonder when it looks up) and steam coming from the chest and legs.

Here we have some images of what the 59-Foot Gundam looks like at night. From the photos, we can see that the motorized head is now fully operational, moving both up and down, and side to side.

59-Foot Gundam Almost Ready

We’ve previously reported on the 59-foot Gundam being erected in a Tokyo park in celebration of the popular Japanese show’s 30th anniversary. First we saw just a drawing, then a few weeks later the legs, and now it looks like they’re almost done. The figure has been erected in its entirety, and most likely they are working on motorizing the head unit and installing the fourteen points where there will be bursts of steam.

Gundam szobor tokióban

We already reported on the 59-foot Gundam, and we now have some actual pictures of it. It’s not quite finished, but construction has gotten under way. It will be on display from July 11th until August 30th in celebration of the Mobile Suit Gundam’s 30th anniversary. For more images, click here.

59-Foot Tall Gundam to be Displayed in Tokyo Park

To celebrate Gundam’s 30th anniversary, they are preparing to erect a lifesize Gundam in a public park in Tokyo, where it will remain for two months. It has a moving head unit, and at fourteen separate points, the figure will release bursts of steam.
