The Brooklyn Banks is scheduled to close this year. The legendary skate spot found in downtown Manhatten has been a mecca for skaters, and bikers alike for decades. However, reconstruction on the Brooklyn Bridge will begin this year, and will last until 2014, and in the process the area under the bridge (the banks) will also be cordoned off. No word as to whether the banks will still be intact when reconstruction finishes. Stay tuned.

The mecca of skateboarding, Venice Beach, finally has a skate park to call home. After eight months of work, and $3.5 million in concrete, the Venice Beach Skate Plaza opened on Saturday to a huge crowd of eager skaters, and onlookers alike.

New from Independent is this ashtray based on the legendary combi pool found at The Pipeline skatepark in Upland, California. The park has been closed for a while now, but fortunately, it will never be forgotten, thanks in part to Independent. You can purchase it now through Slam City.

adidas Skateboarding have put together a promo video featuring three of their sponsors, Mark Gonzales, Dennis Busenitz and Tim O’Connor skating and partaking in some comradery on the streets of Los Angeles.

Another brand coming out of the Acapulco Gold camp is Instant Winner. Here we get a look at their Car Crash Series decks. BBC/Ice Cream’s car crash tees instantly come to mind, but Instant Winner went a “step further” and drew a chick in a bikini posing in front of the ride. The set consists of four decks, all of which can be ordered through Run My Game. mash rating: 4/10
